Exporting Materials
If you're using another LMS besides iSpring Space or simply want to share your course with your users, convert a page or a quiz that you created to SCORM or Experience API.
SCORM is an international standard for online courses. If your course is published to SCORM, you can be sure that it will most likely be accepted by any modern learning management system (LMS).
Experience API (xAPI or Tin Can) is an eLearning software specification that allows learning content and learning systems to speak to each other in a manner that records and tracks all types of learning experiences. Learning experiences are recorded in a Learning Record Store (LRS). LRSs can exist within traditional learning management systems (LMSs) or as a standalone product.
To export a material:
- Go to the edit mode and click on the export icon.
The second option is to select the needed material and click Export.
The third way to export a material is to click on the menu to the right of the material and choose Export. - Then, select the LMS profile and the number of chapters required to complete the course. Finally, click Export.
- The archived course will be saved to the Downloads folder on your device. And that is the package that is ready to be uploaded to any compatible LMS.
Exporting to SCORM
There are two working versions of the SCORM standard: 1.2 and 2004. Each of them has its own technical peculiarities and advantages.
Version 1.2 shows the progress in the reports run on the course. You will see how much of the course a learner has already taken. | Version 2004 provides more detailed information. Besides progress and status, the reports will show how many scores a user gained while taking the course and the quiz. This version has three editions, and you are supposed to choose one of them. |
If you have already chosen an LMS where your SCORM course will be uploaded, just check which SCORM version it supports and select it in the menu.
Exporting to Experience API (xAPI)
If you decided to export a material to Experience API (xAPI), fill out the following fields:
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Identifier | A unique course code. The identifier is used by LMSs to differentiate one course from another. |
Required chapters | The number of chapters a learner needs to complete to change the course status to Completed. |
xAPI endpoint | Enabling and disabling the xAPI server where the course will be hosted. |
Server address | The address of the web resource where the course will be hosted. The peculiarity of exporting to xAPI is that you can do without an LMS. With xAPI, you export courses to an LRS (Learning Record Store), which is a data storage system that archives the activity records of connected learning systems, applications, and content (courses) collected from the educational systems that are connected to it. |
Login | The login to access the web resource where the course will be hosted. |
Password | The password to access the web resource where the course will be hosted. |
